Advanced Insulation, Gloucester
Project location: Quedgeley, Gloucester
Project Background Brief:
Advanced Insulation were referred to Powerplus Group by their Energy Procurement Consultant, with a view to providing a sustainability upgrade across two units in Quedgeley. The two units contained office space, meeting rooms, industrial warehouse / factory facilities, science labs, plant rooms, cold rooms and IT facilities. Powerplus Group carried out a free, no obligation, review and were able to offer savings of over £43,000 per annum based on one for one LED Lighting replacements.
Particular Challenges:
Both sites were live throughout with high-volumes of staff working at all times during programme, which was carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic. We worked closely with the site supervisors to agree phased area and segregated working for more intrusive works, which could be carried out at quieter times. Within the factories, a number of the existing high-bay luminaires were sensor controlled for grouped switching but the client had limited information on this which could not be ascertained at ground level and the purpose of the aforementioned grouped switching was unknown. With this in mind, we liaised with the client to agree a suitable and cost-effective alternative that would meet their requirements with minimal alterations.
Special Project Features:
Where appropriate, CCT Lighting was used which gave the client the option of multiple colour temperatures for the luminaires. Dimmable Lighting was installed within relevant areas such as meeting rooms and integrated emergency lighting within luminaires where possible to avoid the need for a separate emergency lighting system. With previous heavily depreciated lighting, within our brief we looked to ensure compliance to CIBSE guidelines for the relevant areas. Within the factories, to overcome the grouped switching on sensors, master override last man out switching was installed in addition to key switches for testing the integrated emergency luminaires.
