Project Background Brief:
Wycombe Wanderers F.C. gained promotion to the EFL Championship through the playoff final at Wembley. As part of FA requirements, there is a significant lighting requirement increase as part of the ground grading scheme.
The League One requirements are an average LUX value of 500 across 88 points, with a minimum of 300 at any one moment.
Whereas for the EFL Championship, Wycombe required an average LUX value of 800, with a minimum of 500 LUX at any one point and a minimum of 750 LUX at the centre point of each goal line.
MUSCO Lighting was commissioned by Wycombe Wanderers F.C., with Powerplus Group commissioned as their chosen Contractor.
Powerplus Group removed the existing 4no 18m lighting columns, replacing these with new 24m masts and installing 52no Musco TLC-LED-1500 Floodlights.
Particular Challenges:
Powerplus Group carried out a site survey with MUSCO at quotation stage, noticing that a live transmission tower, which was supporting an overhead power line, within proximity to one of the existing lighting columns.
This was a significant challenge as the power line would require isolation under HSE guidelines to ensure safe working, which meant careful planning and co-ordination with Scottish and southern Electricity Networks (SSE). SSE visited the site on several occasions liaising with the Powerplus Group Project Manager. They provided a method statement and plan for the safe isolation of the 132,000v power line on two separate occasions, where the lift plan was implemented by our crane contractor to lift the prepared lighting mast into place within Adams Park Stadium.

The project featured a MUSCO Show-Light™ Entertainment Package, a system designed to create an experience, players and fans will remember forever with predesigned light shows. In addition to the light shows, lights will be synchronized to music, for fantastic audio and visual experience.
